Chapter 3 – Configuring OpenText AppWorks Gateway Settings

The AppWorks Gateway is a deployment and management tool for applications, components, and their associated services.

During the installation process of the AppWorks Gateway, you were asked to connect to a database to store your data, as well as to connect to an OpenText Directory Services (OTDS) installation to manage your users. After these connections are made, you needed to define a trusted connection to your production server. This establishes a trusted connection between the server and clients. These steps are outlined in Chapter 1 - Installing and Upgrading the OpenText AppWorks Gateway and Chapter 2 - Getting Started with the OpenText AppWorks Gateway.

Two other configurations you should complete are defining a mail server and proxy server. For information on all of the AppWorks Gateway Settings, see Chapter 7 - OpenText AppWorks Gateway Settings Overview.

3.1 – Defining Mail Settings

To define mail settings:

  1. Sign in to the AppWorks Gateway as an admin user.

  2. In the left pane, click Settings and then click Mail Settings.

  3. Define the following:

SMTP Return Address – The email that is generated by the AppWorks Gateway will be sent from this email address.

SMTP Host – The host name or IP for the SMTP mail server.

SMTP Port – The port for connecting to the SMTP mail server. The default port is 25.

SMTP Username – The username for connecting to the SMTP mail server. This setting is optional.

SMTP User Password – The password for connecting to the SMTP mail server. This setting is optional.

SMTP Use SSL – If enabled, communication with the SMTP mail server will be secured using SSL.

  4. Click Update Settings.

  5. To test these settings, do the following:
    a. In the Send Test Email section, enter an email address in the To field.
    b. Optional: Enter information in the Subject and Message fields.
    c. Click Send Email.

3.2 – Defining Proxy Settings
